Insurers appoint a Loss Adjuster to manage the claim on their behalf. Appointing your own Loss Assessor means you have someone experienced in the claims process acting solely in your interests.
Submitting an insurance claim is rarely straightforward. It can be time consuming and stressful — for you, and for your tenants, staff or customers. We take that on: assessing the full extent of the loss, preparing and presenting the claim, dealing with the Loss Adjuster’s queries, and managing the reinstatement works through to completion.
What it costs
There are no upfront fees, and if your claim is unsuccessful there is nothing to pay. If your claim succeeds, there are two options:
- Our approved contractors carry out the works. You pay us no fee for our claims handling service — our fee is paid by the contractor out of the cost of the works agreed with your insurer. Your policy excess remains payable to the contractor. All works carried out by our network carry a full two year warranty.
- You use your own contractors. Our fee is typically 10% of the settlement plus VAT, and may be negotiable on larger claims.

Turn off the stopcock. This stops more water entering the property, so if there is a leak you haven’t spotted, it won’t cause a flood.
Check the pipe for splits. If you find one, call a plumber. If not, you can try gently thawing the pipe yourself.
Empty the pipes. Flush the toilet and run your cold taps until no more water comes out.
Warm the pipe gently. Use a hot water bottle or a towel soaked in warm water. A hairdryer on its lowest setting will do, but too much direct heat can damage the pipe. Never pour boiling water over a frozen pipe, it’s a fast way to cause a serious split. - If you find a split, call us. Office hours 0191 3755 729, out of office hours 07943 862190.

Switch off the mains power at the fuse box. Water reaching your electrics could cause a serious shock or a fire.
Shut off the water at the stopcock, then drain the system by running the taps and flushing the toilet.

Photograph and film the damage at its worst. Your insurer’s Loss Adjuster may take several days to attend, so document everything before anything is moved or cleaned.
Your insurer, or the Loss Adjuster they appoint, will need to see the extent of the damage before approving the claim. That includes water damaged furniture and contents as well as damage to pipes, walls and floors. Tempting as it is to start putting things right, don’t dispose of anything until the Loss Adjuster or your own Loss Assessor confirms it’s in order to do so.

Dav and the team did fantastic work for me when an escape of water happened in an empty rental property. The damage was horrendous and very overwhelming.From the outset Dav was reassuring and helpful and consulted at every stage.As expected the insurance company used a loss adjustor who did his best to chip away and invalidate the claim, this is where Dav came into his own in dealing with this and putting to bed the loss adjustors queries and issues. Dav then made sure that the property was returned in excellent shape and with the insurance company paying out everything they should of done. Without Dav Id have been many thousands of pounds worse off and would have had a massive head ache to deal with. I cant recommend this company enough I really cant!

Recently I had the call that all landlords dread - my house had been well and truly trashed! Bricks through windows, external doors damaged and carpeting extremely soiled by dogs. I was pointed in the direction of Imperial Claims Consultants. Within an hour of me being informed of the damage the representative from Imperial Claims Consultants had called me. He was patient and understanding and reassured me of the services that they would undertake on my behalf. I was assured I would have nothing to pay, not even the insurance excess. I was able to contact him at any time, including evenings and weekends. Every call/email was responded to on the same day. I was kept informed of every detail promptly and efficiently. The repair work was arranged and overseen by Imperial Claims Consultants.... I didn't have to deal with the insurance company directly, only to give permission for the loss assessors to work on my behalf. After a burst pipe flood making my house uninhabitable and 4 months getting nowhere with my insurance company's loss adjuster, Imperial Claims Consultants were recommended to me by a property contact. Since then all the work of negotiating the claim and managing the remedial works has been handled by them and paid in full by my insurer. Dav Kumar's regular updates on progress have been brilliant and I'm now back in a house as good as new.

Imperial Claims Consultants assisted us with our insurance claim. We had an arson attack at our buy to let property. Our lovely property was truly badly damaged as a result of the fire and all the smoke damage. It was obviously a very concerning issue for us as a family and deeply stressful. From start to finish the service that was provided by Dav and his team was exceptional. If you ever rang them, they would pick up regardless of what time or day it was. I have used Imperial Claims Consultants service in the last few months and the claim has just been very successfully concluded. I am a landlord and live outside the UK.My property had been maliciously broken into and ransacked which resulted in a huge amount of damage. To further add to this nightmare the letting agents I had been using were not engaging!I thought OK, it can’t get any worse than this, so I will simply file an insurance claim (my first for a property) and begin to go forwards. The very first email and information sent concerning the claim was swiftly dealt with by my insurance company. However, from that point onward it became extremely torturous, as the insurance company appoints a loss adjuster (think private investigator!), and his job was clearly to act entirely... for the insurance company, to undermine and try to refute any claim! If I had not appointed Imperial Claims Consultants at that time I very much doubt that I would have been successful. The seemingly endless amount of questions, posed to me by the loss adjuster, as well as tons of evidence, copies of invoices & receipts, photographs, tenancy documents and so forth required, is an absolute minefield to try to do on your own. Imperial Claims Consultants expert knowledge and guidance together with their in-depth understanding of the insurance policy’s nuances and fine print, along with a considerable amount of time, lead me to that successful outcome.The truly wonderful thing in all this? It didn’t cost me anything and Imperial Claim Consultants dealt with everything, seamlessly. You can imagine the constant thoughts and worry I had before involving Imperial Claim Consultants; was I covered by the policy? And if the insurers didn’t cover my loss how would I have been able to make good the extensive damage and repairs needed, and all this from outside the UK!I truly hope in relating this experience it will help others avoid the numerous pitfalls and great anxiety associated with a typical claim. Imperial Claims Consultants Ltd provide an invaluable service and expertise to anyone who suffers any property related insurance claim. They work for you and not your insurance company, ensuring your claim is processed as quickly as possible and you claim for everything required.They managed an insurance claim for my family which took away the stress of dealing with paperwork and administration.
