Sandy Taylor

Consultant

Sandy has been within the insurance industry for the entirety of his professional career – twenty nine years – and for over fifteen years now, has been running his own loss adjusting firm, Fulmar Consulting. While specialising in adjusting and assessing, he has also garnered significant skill within many other fields of the industry, such as claims management, third party administration, auditing and risk surveying.

With this wealth of knowledge, his current specialties include high net worth and estate claims having worked on multiple high profile losses, and in emerging economies such as the “stans” and elsewhere. Due to this extensive experience, Sandy can provide customers with a complete package tailored to each client’s individual needs in order to provide a streamlined, yet all-inclusive service. Owning his own firm has given Sandy the hands-on business experience that you can only gain from creating your own start-up. Outside of his own company, he has also been involved in directing and chairing boards both within and outside the insurance industry. This includes a substantial amount of impact work in different sectors, such as aid and microfinance.

My name is John Fogel. I am getting past my “sell by date” but keep going. I no longer buy green bananas.

I have worked as an assessor in the Manchester market since the 1960’s. Started as an apprentice, (office junior and fire engine chaser)). Had no qualifications to talk about, but watched how it was done and some of it stuck. I have always thought that having some idea of the meaning of “Indemnity ” has been a big help. All insurance policy’s are based on
“Indemnity”

Up to 1986 worked for other companies, but then became self employed and continue to do so under my own name. I deal with domestic claims, building and contents and commercial claims, stock, fixtures and fitting, equipment, buildings and Business Interruption.

I was lucky to work with a guy called Roy Swain who lectured on BI claims and because of his help was able to understand Trading, Profit and Loss Accounts and how to calculate a traders “Rate of Gross Profit” and another important area of BI claims, Increase Cost’s of Working.

Dav and myself have been associated for 400 years and it is not true I started ” Great fire of London”
