Insurance Claims Support for Regional Housing Associations & Registered Providers

Insurance Claims Support for Regional Housing Associations & Registered Providers

Specialist Loss Assessors for the Social Housing Sector.

Imperial Claims Consultants are specialist loss assessors for housing associations and registered providers across the North East England. We provide you with a bespoke service because every insurance claim is unique.

When a fire, explosion, flood or escape of water damages one of your properties, the claim rarely sits with one person. It touches your Housing Officer, your Surveyors and Contracts team, your Technical and Disrepair officers, and your in-house Insurance team all at once, all needing to be kept aligned. Imperial Claims Consultants bring specialist knowledge and expertise with first hand experience of the housing associations and registered providers sector.

We understand that, because our Managing Director spent twelve years working within Housing Associations before moving into the Private Rented Sector, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing. We’re not an outside contractor learning your world for the first time, we’ve worked inside it.

What We Do For Housing Providers

We become the single point of coordination for your claim
Rather than your team chasing insurers, loss adjusters, surveyors and contractors separately, we take on that coordination, keeping every internal team informed without adding to their workload. That’s a specialist loss assessor working with your entire team as and when you need us.

We work with your existing teams, not around them
Your Housing Officers, Contracts Managers and Technical Officers stay exactly as involved as they need to be, we fit into your structure rather than asking you to fit into ours.

We understand decant, temporary accommodation and reinstatement timelines
Because we’ve worked inside housing management, we know that an insurance claim isn’t just a financial transaction, it’s a tenant waiting to go home, and a property that needs to come back into management.

We ensure liability is properly and fairly established
Where an insurer accepts liability, we ensure the insurance claim is fully and fairly settled. Where there’s a dispute, we investigate thoroughly and make sure you understand exactly why and what, if anything, could be done differently next time.

We can assist with the reinstatement works themselves
Through our group’s specialist cleaning and building companies, we can support the practical recovery of the property as well as the claim itself, reducing the number of external parties you need to manage.

Case Study: A Fire Claim, Coordinated Across Six Roles

The situation: A fire broke out in a three-bedroom semi-detached property, caused by a faulty games console. The tenants, who were asleep at the time, were safely evacuated and placed in temporary accommodation, with the intention of returning once repair works were complete.

The complexity: As is typical, this single claim touched multiple teams within the Housing Association:

  • The Housing Officer
  • A Delivery & Performance Manager
  • A Contracts Manager
  • A Senior Technical Officer
  • A Technical Officer (Disrepair)
  • A dedicated in-house Insurance Administrator, within the Health, Safety & Environment team

A glimpse of the journey — from fire damage to full reinstatement:

Our role: We acted as the single thread running through all six relationships – attending site, liaising with the loss adjuster, coordinating quotes and specialist input, chasing every party to keep the claim moving, and negotiating the settlement – so that no single internal team carried the burden of managing the claim alone, and the tenants could return home as quickly as possible. Indeed, the tenants were able to return home within 10 weeks. We were first in contact with the Housing Officer on 19 April. Works began on 24 May and were fully completed by 27 June – a 6-week reinstatement period for the building works – with the whole process, from first contact to completion, wrapped up in just over 10 weeks.

Why Work With a Specialist Loss Assessor

Insurers appoint their own loss adjuster to look after their interests. As your loss assessor, we work exclusively for you ensuring your policy entitlements are fully recognised, your teams aren’t left chasing multiple parties, and your properties return to management as quickly as possible.

Loss adjusters, in our experience, often prefer working with a professional loss assessor too, it means less time spent explaining process to the policyholder directly, and a claim that moves more efficiently for everyone involved.

Let’s Talk
